Nigel Watson holds degrees
from the Universities of New Zealand, Cambridge and Princeton. His
doctoral supervisor at Princeton was the foremost New Testament scholar,
W. D. Davies. He also spent a year studying at the University of Goettingen under Joachim Jeremias and Ernst Kaesemann. After six years
in parish ministry in New Zealand, he was appointed Professor of New
Testament in the Theological Hall, Ormond College, Melbourne, which
later became a partner in the United Faculty of Theology. After
twenty-nine years of teaching in Melbourne, he spent a year on the staff
of Pacific Theological College, Suva, Fiji. He has also completed
thirty-five years of service as an elder in the Presbyterian and Uniting
Churches in Australia.
Nigel is the author of numerous scholarly and pastoral
articles and a number of books. Since retiring from teaching,
he has also written and published a
number of bible study booklets, making
scholarly insights of the New Testament
available in everyday language for use by local study groups. Sample
